The airport's new north pier is 300 m long and has an area of 63,000 m². The gates in the new pier have twice the capacity of the existing gates and will improve services to millions of passengers in 2017.

Project management, building and structural engineering, BIM development, visualisation and modelling
Sweco has carried out detailed project planning of roofs and façades under commission from the contractor Kruse Smith AS. We have been in charge of an enormous project – from detailed project planning of timber structures to the development of the BIM model.
Laminated wooden structures are good for the environment – and air safety
The roof of the terminal building is timber and prevents radar reflection from air navigation systems. The roof's primary load-bearing members consist of twin laminated wooden arches. The structures have been modelled in a BIM model.
Sweco manages the project and coordinates subcontractors
Our consultants are responsible for analysing global statics and protecting all load-bearing structures in the roof. To prevent deformations, we perform load calculations and control the steel structures and external roof structures with snow guards. We utilise the full range of our expertise and ensure that all parts of the project are documented. In its role as design manager for Kruse Smith, Sweco is responsible for coordinating all subcontractors to the project.
