Structural engineering technology

Buildings and other structures are dependent on having lifelong security both above and below ground. Sweco's specialists know what is required in order to realise sustainable, functional building, industrial and construction projects. We adopt a multidisciplinary approach to each and every project and we ensure that economic considerations, the environment and people are taken into account in an integrated manner.

Third party control

Most projects require one or more specialist areas to be controlled by third parties. Sweco has official approval for all control areas and employees who satisfy the strict expertise requirements specified in the Norwegian Building Application Regulations.

Compulsory control requirements apply to planning, design and execution in respect of geotechnology, building physics and construction safety. These requirements also apply to fire safety when specialist areas fall under project classes 2 or 3. There are also requirements relating to the control of residential wet rooms which are subject to application and to the control of air density in new houses. The latter requirement also applies to holiday homes with more than one residential unit. Municipal requirements may also apply to the control of other specialist areas.

We are able to control all assignments, but we cannot control our own planning and design work on specialist areas.
